Patchwork Painting

Patchwork painting is beautiful and you don't have to actually be an artist or a great drawer to make a gorgeous patchwork painting. There's two ways to do this, you can either just paint with various colors that go well together or are you up for a challenge? The challenge may actually make it easier for some folks.

You are going to need:
Paper-I used Bristol board
masking tape or artist's tape*(recommended, but not absolutely necessary)
ruler
pencil
acrylic paints in complementary colors and white-I used (Galeria paints)
These are the exact names of the colors I used: titanium white, cadmium orange hue and ultramarine (windsor blue would also work).
flat nylon paint brush

I'm going to give you a quick rundown of complementary colors:
violet/yellow
blue/orange
red/green
blue violet/yellow orange
red violet/yellow green
red orange/blue green

For the challenge: you only need and you can only use three paints one of which is white and two complementary colors.

1. Using a ruler draw a grid which is 5x5, each square should equal one inch. You should have a total of 25 squares. Leave room for the artist's/masking tape.

2. Take your artist's tape/masking tape and tape around the grid you just made, this will leave you with a one inch border forming a frame around your finished artwork.

3. Take your 3 paints and get painting, here the rules each square must be a different color or shade, white is not to be used as a color but to alter the colors and get different colors.

4. When your paint is dry, carefully pull off your tape in a way that you are forming an angle, you should be getting a triangle shape- (this keeps the tape from coming off too fast)
this is not tape, but this is the way it should look while you are peeling

5. Sign your name

6. Hang it up and be proud

There is a one inch border on this, it's scanned, so the border is not showing up.
Each and every square are different colors.
